What Is MySocialShortcut Toolbar?


MySocialShortcut Toolbar is a potentially unwanted program that can attack the targeted computer by all means. It is a browser extension, plug-in or add-on that is related to browser hijacker. It is promoted via freeware or shareware downloads, questionable websites and unknown links, etc. Once installed successfully, it will perform lots of spiteful activities in the background. It can modify your DNS and web browser settings, add itself to all installed web browsers, including Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox and Google Chrome. It can also change your default homepage without any permission. Then you will find your search results filled with all kinds of commercial ads, coupons, sponsored-links and other irrelevant contents.


It can copy its files to your hard disk and create new startup key to your registry and make it automatically run whenever your Windows starts. Besides, it can collect your search terms from your search queries and then accordingly pop up advertisements, coupons, sponsored links to the targeted users. What’s worse, it is able to trace your cookies and browser history in order to extract your valuable information for illegal benefits. Therefore, take thorough action to completely delete MySocialShortcut Toolbar as soon as possible.


How to Remove MySocialShortcut Toolbar



1. Terminate the process in Task Manager. Press Alt+Ctrl+Del opition, find out this malicious process in the task list:
MySocialShortcut Toolbar.exe


2. Unregister related exes. Click Start > Run. Type REGSVR32 -u <exe_name>. Then click OK.


3. Remove related registry keys. Click Start > Run. Type REGEDIT. Then click OK. Navigate to the subkeys and delete the values:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ MySocialShortcut Toolbar
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\AppPaths\ MySocialShortcut Toolbar.exe
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\run\ MySocialShortcut Toolbar
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Ad-Protect.Server


4. Remove the following directory in Explorer if exists:
%ProgramFiles%\ MySocialShortcut Toolbar

If you still cannot remove the toolbar from your computer, please download and use a professional malware removal tool to clean up all its traces.
